First Generation:
John James O’Hara was born in 1807 in the Armaugh District, Ireland. He married Sarah Ann McCaffery about 1837. Sarah Ann was also born in Ireland in 1816. John died before 1861 and Sarah Ann died after 1871. Both are buried in Quebec, Canada. 1. George O'Hara 2. Mary Ann O'Hara 3. James "John" O'Hara was born 1845 in North Gower, Ontario. John married Jemina Craig in 1860. John died August 19, 1919. Jemina died November 24, 1924. 4. Joseph O’Hara was born March 23, 1853 at Masham, Quebec, Canada. He came to Carlisle, North Dakota in 1881 and farmed there until his death, March 26, 1932, at his home. He never married and is buried in Hamilton, North Dakota. 5. Elizabeth O’Hara was born in 1853.
Second Generation:
James “John” William O’Hara was born
in North Gower, Ontario about 1845. John married
Mary Jemina Craig in 1860.
Jemina was born in 1849 in Fitzroy Harbor, Ontario, Canada. They raised
13 children, all born in a log house in Masham Province near Low and Rupert,
Quebec. The area is called Kalalla. The home was a two-story structure of 4 or
5 rooms. The ceiling beams were hand-hewn. There were 3 bedrooms upstairs, 2
rooms on the main floor and a basement. In July, 1977, Olive Craig Youngren, Mae
Middleton Kemp, Leone Craig Kuball, Vida Craig Gunderson, along with cousins and
other relatives from the Quebec area, spent mos 1. William O’Hara was born 1868. He came to North Dakota in 1881 with his Uncle Joe O’Hara. In 1899, he married Rose Harrington. They had 8 daughters and 2 sons. William died in 1936 and is buried in Hamilton, North Dakota. 2. Jennie O’Hara was born 1870. She married Henry Murdock in Canada and lived there all her life. They had 13 children. Jennie gave birth to one of the children in 1902, when her parents were leaving for North Dakota. Her mother, Jemina would not leave until the baby was born and all was well. The family members, who came to North Dakota in 1902 at one time, spent the last night at Jennie’s and stayed up all night visiting, singing, and listening to music from the fiddle, harmonica and Jews harp. In the morning they were taken to the train for Winnipeg and then to Pembina, North Dakota. Jennie was never to see her parents alive again, as she never visited the states until after their deaths. Jennie died in 1947 and is buried at Rupert, Quebec, Canada. 3. Sarah O’Hara was born in 1871. She married Henry Wills. Henry had previously been married to Rachel Kennedy. He had a daughter and 2 sons. Sarah and Henry had 6 children. Sarah died in 1917 and is buried with Henry at Pembina, North Dakota. 4. Joseph O’Hara was born 1873 in Canada. He married Elizabeth Rixon of England. Together they lived in Rupert, Quebec. They had 3 children. 5. Mary O’Hara was born in 1877. She married Robert Campbell. They had 7 children. Mary and Robert are buried in Oakland, Iowa. 6. Thomas O’Hara was born in 1878. He never married and died in 1950. He is buried in Hamilton, North Dakota. 7. Jemina O’Hara was born in 1882. She married Arthur Craig. They had 8 children. Jemina died in 1966. Arthur and Jemina are buried at Hamilton, North Dakota 8. George Frances “Frank” O’Hara was born in 1884. He married Gertrude Wills, stepdaughter of Sarah. They had 9 children. Frank died in 1944 and is buried along with Gertrude at Pembina, North Dakota. 9. Margaret O’Hara was born in 1886. She married James Middleton and together they had 3 children. Margaret died in 1942. She and James are buried at Hamilton, North Dakota. 10. John O’Hara was born in 1890. He married Anna Grell, then Cleora Stratton. They had 3 children, Helen, Tom and Dale. John died in 1969 and is buried in Hamilton, North Dakota. 11. Wesley Richmond O’Hara was born February 25, 1895 in Rupert, Quebec, Canada. He married Betty Nagle August 2, 1918 in Cavalier, North Dakota. Betty and Wesley had 2 daughters, Florence and Frances. Wesley died August 19, 1970 and is buried in Cavalier, North Dakota. Betty died October 3, 1982 and is buried in Oceanside, California. Third

Richmond O’Hara was born February 25, 1895 in Rupert, Quebec, 1. Annie Francis O’Hara was born October 1, 1921. She married Earl Brown. Together they had 1 daughter, Judith Ann Brown. Earl and Francis were divorced and she married Carl Eugene Erickson, March 19, 1948 in Yuma, Arizona. Carl was born May 3, 1911 in Sister Bay, Wisconsin. Together they had 3 boys and 1 girl. 2. Florence Mae O’Hara was born July 20, 1923 in Carlisle, North Dakota. Florence married Jack Murray Erickson January 18, 1943 in Washoe County, Nevada. Florence and Jack had 2 sons, Gary Wayne Erickson and James Murray Erickson. |
